Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano and the Nassau County Veterans Services Agency will partner with ASR International Corporation, a Long Island company, to assist veterans in utilizing the skills gained during heroic service to jobs back home.
“My administration has worked tirelessly to support local and returning veterans in Nassau County,” said County Executive Mangano. “I commend ASR International Corporation for providing free training and orientation services to local veterans. This is truly an incredible opportunity for veterans to explore different career paths.”
The free job training and orientation service provided by ASR International Corporation is aimed at preparing veterans for careers in technical and engineering fields. Career fields include inspection services, quality assurance/control, construction, manufacturing, security, finance, information technology (IT) and safety. Training materials were developed by experts, who have hands on experiences in the fields mentioned above.
CEO Rao S. Anumolu added, “Education, training and orientation is a priority for the current day workforce and we are delighted to give something back to the brave men and women who proudly serve our nation.”
Currently, ASR uses a training portal as an in-house program to orient ASR employees in various areas. The company attended the Nassau County Job Fair in June 2013, to offer this free service to veterans, on a trial basis. Currently, several veterans are piloting the portal. The portal also provides an online course module in workplace interaction, and interview skills.
