Legislator Edward P. Mangano, is a Republican running for re-election with the endorsement of the Independence, Conservative and Working Families Party. Ed Mangano presently serves as the elected Legislator for the 17th District which includes Bethpage, Hicksville, Plainedge, South Farmingdale, Levittown, Island Trees and Syosset. A graduate of Hofstra University and Hofstra School of Law, Ed was admitted into the New York State Bar in 1988.
As a Legislator, Ed has worked hard to create jobs by fostering the revitalization of the former Grumman Property. Ed established a Senior Citizen and Community Center in the 17th Legislative District in order to increase residents access to important Nassau County services. Ed also established a youth program to provide a place for teenagers to gather. Ed was instrumental in restoring Cantiague Park pools and age-oriented playground area. Ed has assisted in creating and improving athletic fields throughout the district. Ed is a leader in preserving land to protect our environment and provide open space for future generations.
Ed has received many recognition's for his advocacy, including Humanitarian of the Year for Family Residence and Essential Enterprises, LI Business News 40/40 Rising Star Award, Legislator of the Year Vietnam Veterans Association Chapter #82, George M. Estabrook Hofstra University Distinguished Service Award, Nassau Council Small Business Person of the Year, Honoree Children's House Tee-off for Kids, Honoree Hicksville Kiwanis, Citizenship Award Knights of Columbus Hartigan Council, Hicksville Youth Council Award and Community Leadership Award Boy Scouts Troop 604.
As a Legislator Ed serves as Ranking Member Public Works, Recreation & Park Committee, Rules Committee, Procedures, Economic & Community Development.
Ed is active in many charitable and fraternal organizations. Ed has served on the Board of Directors of Children's House, LI Mentoring Partnership Leadership Council, Past President Bethpage/Plainview Rotary Club, board member Bethpage Chamber of commerce, honorary member Hicksville Kiwanis, past member Grumman Master Planning council and Town of Oyster Bay Youth Advisory Committee.
